How to Pack Glassware

Packing up the kitchen isn’t something that most people relish doing. However, if you want to have your kitchen supplies ready and intact when the time comes to set up in your new residence, packing carefully is key. Glasses are some of the most fragile things you will pack for your move so knowing the best way to go about doing so is a valuable piece of information. A Mother’s Touch Movers has been assisting Brevard County for years now with the most reliable moving services available. We are proud to have helped so many of you move residentially, commercially, and even into and out of assisted living facilities. We treat each and every one of our clients like family, because we know your possessions are so important to you. We can assist you from start to finish or just a little here and there. See below for some great tips on packing up your glassware so that it will make it safely to the other side.

Before you begin the actual packing, make sure you have acquired all your packing essentials. This website has some great tips on getting prepped and ready for this. First, make sure you have enough medium sized boxes to meet your needs. You can do this with standard sized moving boxes or try asking for left over liquor boxes. These are especially nice because they are already partitioned and all you to keep each glass separate from the next.

Once you’ve got all the boxes you need, gather tape, bubble wrap, wrapping specific paper and labels if you are using them. Now the fun starts! Begin by laying out each glass. Clear your counter-tops to make space for all your glassware so that you can see exactly how much you have to pack up. This is also a great time to get rid of glasses you do not need or use. Hey, less is more when it comes to moving! After your glasses are set aside begin by wrapping each one individually with wrapping paper or bubble wrap. When using paper, lay out a flat sheet and then put a single glass on one corner and roll up. You will have excess paper left over so simply tuck it down inside the open end of the glass in hand. If you happen to be able to feel any glass after you have wrapped it, add another sheet to make sure every portion of the item is covered and protected. This same application can work with bubble wrap as well.

To prep your moving boxes for carrying these delicate items, be sure to add several layers of packing paper and/or bubble wrap. This will create a nice cushion for the breakables and also a compact compartment for storing so that the items do not move while in transit. After all of your glassware is snug as a bug inside paper or bubble wrap, begin packing boxes. Take heaver glasses and place them on the bottom saving the lighter items for the top making sure to leave room at the top for additional supportive packing materials.

Now that your box is nice and packed, seal it with packing tape and label it in a way that will ensure it gets to the right room once the unpacking begins. Pretty easy!

We know there are probably several other things you would rather do than pack up your glassware, however, it’s a must when it comes time to move. If you have questions or would like assistance for your move, please contact A Mother’s Touch Movers in Melbourne, FL today. We’d love to serve you.
