Prepping For Moving Day

Moving your belongings entails many things. You have to be prepared both mentally and physically for moving day itself, but you must also have several things in place in order to make that day run smoothly. A Mother’s Touch Movers serves all of Brevard County, FL with superior residential and commercial moving services. We offer a full range of moving assistance from full service to packing, loading, unloading, and everything in between. When a move is on the horizon it pays to be as prepared as possible before the big day. One thing that must happen prior to packing up your belongings and getting yourself organized for the big day is gathering all the necessary supplies. Here are some suggestions for making packing a breeze…sort of.

Boxes

This one is a no brainer. You will need a variety of box sizes to put your things in. Don’t wait until the last minute to start collecting. There are several ways to acquire boxes prior to your move. Start by asking people you know who have recently moved if they have any usable boxes hanging around. Next, check out grocery stores and big box home stores to see if they have larger sized boxes for your big ticket items. You can, of course, always purchase new boxes. A Mother’s Touch can help you with that too!

Support Items

Packing paper and bubble wrap are essentials when it comes to packing. You will want to protect your valuables by utilizing packing paper and the extra cushion bubble wrap provides.

Packing Tape

You can do all the packing in the world, but it will be useless if the tape you use to seal boxes is cheap and flimsy. Packing tape is an essential tool when it comes to prepping for a move. Don’t skimp here. Something else to keep in mind is that shipping tape, tape used to mail simple packages, is not the same thing as moving tape. According to Staples, moving tape has special adhesive that is suited to dramatic changes in temperature and is much longer lasting. If you are moving, you will want to use tape specially designed for moving and/or storage.

Let’s be honest here, packing up a home is not something most people look forward to. However, being prepared helps make it a little less painful. Having the proper supplies will set you up for success and make packing an easier thing to accomplish.
