One thing we get asked often is, “What are the packing essentials?” If you have ever wondered what you must have and what you can skip, this post is for you.
There is a fine line between want and need and this is true for moving supplies as well. However, there are items that you absolutely will need and we are going to tell you what these items are. Remember, the size of your home and the number of belongings you plan on transporting will determine the number of supplies you will need. For example, someone moving from a Brevard County studio apartment usually won’t need the same number of moving boxes as a family of 4. Then again, everyone is different.
Boxes
You will need boxes in multiple sizes and perhaps shapes.
Packing Paper
You can go the clean paper route and purchase packing paper from a moving company, or you can use newsprint or magazine pages to wrap valuables. Your choice.
Dividers
When packing glasses and breakables, you will need to separate the items from each other. Dividers will help protect your belongings.
Peanuts and/or Bubble Wrap
Protect your breakables by making sure they are cushioned properly. These items will help.
Blankets
To protect furniture and other larger items, you can use old blankets of your own or rent packing blankets
Heavy Duty Tape
Duh. You will need to make sure your cardboard boxes are secure. Don’t skimp here.
Markers
Label each box so that unpacking isn’t a hectic nightmare.
It is tempting to skip on certain supplies due to expense. However, let us caution against this. Make sure you budget for adequate supplies as part of your moving expenses because they can make all the difference. Don’t skimp here. On the other hand, many people go out and buy all sorts of gadgets, gizmos, and unnecessary items thinking these will save them time and protect their items. This is not always the case either.
