3 Things to Know Before Moving to Melbourne, FL

So, you’ve been dreaming about living the Florida lifestyle for some time now. You’ve sold your house and are ready to head South, or perhaps you decided to make a local shift making your Melbourne, FL move a more low-key kind of thing. Whatever your reason for choosing the Space Coast, A Mother’s Touch Movers is so glad you have chosen to walk into our little slice of paradise! We have been in the moving business for over 30 years now and we love what you do. From packing supplies to a full-service experience where we pack, load, deliver, and get you set up, you can count on our professional and courteous staff to get you there and all with a “mother’s touch.” Life on the East Coast of Florida, specifically Brevard County, truly is a treasure and we cannot wait for you to experience it here. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some things you should know BEFORE you make the move. For those of you who already live here, maybe you will discover something new about the place you call home.

Diversity

Many people assume that Florida is home to Disney World and seniors. While this may be true, there is a diverse population in our area due to the technological and medical fields.  In fact, the most recent Census statistics show that Brevard County has about 589, 000 residents…of all ages. What this means is that you are just as likely to see a young family as you are an elderly individual. What is more, we all get along for the most part, which is fantastic in our book! There’s just something about the ocean that seems to have a relaxing effect on just about everyone.

It’s Not a Non-Stop Party…But It’s Still Fun

The state of Florida seems to get a lot of attention from the press during spring break season making it seem like everyone here is living the life of a college-aged party boy. This simply is not true. Melbourne and the surrounding areas do attract tourists but not to the extent that you may have seen represented on the news. Yes, you will have to deal with tourists, but nothing like the hordes of crowds that scamper through Disney or Panama City Beach. We like things a little more laid back.

Respect the Hurricane

Hurricanes are frightening and should be respected, period. Residents of our area know that they need to have a preparedness kit complete with non-perishable food items, water, medications, safety gear, and the like ready before the start of the season. Hurricanes keep us on our toes but it is a price we are willing to pay for the paradise that otherwise rules the day. If you move here, make sure you have your supplies in order and speak with locals about their experiences. Everyone we know wants to make sure that the community is prepared in case of a hurricane event.

If you are new here, welcome. If you are just relocating within the community, congrats on the change. A Mother’s Touch Movers is proud to serve this area and we look forward to getting to know you better.
