The answer is to create some sort of packing system that will work for your life. If you begin the packing process organized, you will thank yourself when you begin to unpack in your new home. First, consider using a color-coded system. This is perhaps the easiest system available. Choose waterproof permanent markers in your favorite colors and get to work. Instead, you can look at the color you have marked on your box and know exactly where that box belongs.
If you want to kick things up a notch, incorporate colored tape to accompany the color you have chosen to label your box. Colored tape adds another dimension to your packing and using it allows you to forego writing on every surface of your boxes. If colored makers and tape are not enough for you, add in printed labels to the mix. On the label, write the contents of each box as well. This is a pretty detailed step but can save you lots of time when you get ready to set up your new home.
